Второто издание на Международната конференция „Променящият се град: предизвикателства, прогнози, перспективи“ се провежда по инициатива на франкофонската изследователска общност в НБУ, Центъра по многоезичието на НБУ и Лабораторията за практики за устойчиво развитие, в партньорство с Департаментите „Администрация и управление“, „Архитектура“, „Икономика“, „Нова българистика“ и „Политически науки“. Тя се осъществява с подкрепата на Eвропейския университетски консорциум ЕRUA, Университетската агенция на Франкофонията (УАФ) в Централна и Източна Европа, Посолството на Република Франция в България, Посолството на Кралство Мароко в България, Посолството на Конфедерация Швейцария в България, Френския институт в София, Френско-българската търговска и индустриална камара, БАН – Институт за икономически изследвания, Съюза на икономистите в България и Международна образователна мрежа за устойчиво развитие и гражданско участие Place for Future.
Събитието цели да създаде академична и гражданска трибуна за споделяне на наблюдения, анализи и опит по една тема с несъмнена значимост – настоящето и бъдещето на градовете, градската среда и живота в Града.
Конференцията ще представи теоретични и практически изследвания на български и чуждестранни учени, експерти, граждански активисти и представители на публичната и местната администрация. Целта на конференцията е да систематизира предизвикателствата пред съвременния град и да проблематизира перспективите за градското развитие чрез дискусии, модели, проекти, решения и добри практик
В научния форум ще вземат участие утвърдени учени, млади изследователи, практици и експерти от над 15 държави от Европа, Северна Америка, Южна Америка, Африка и Азия, които ще дискутират в реален интер и тренсдисциплинен контекст върху проблемите, предизвикателствата и перспективите пред устойчивото развитие на съвременния град.
Работни езици на конференцията са френски и английски.
Научният комитет на събитието включва утвърдени изследователи-франкофони с международно реноме от България и чужбина, както и представители на Европейския университетски алианс ЕRUA. В Организационния комитет, редом с утвърдени преподаватели и изследователи, участват и докторанти и студенти – франкофони и англофони от различни програми на НБУ.
Организирането и провеждането на конференцията откроява значимостта на преподавателската и изследователска дейност на френски език в университета, както и устойчивостта на интердисциплинарната франкофонска мрежа в НБУ, която включва изследователи, преподаватели и членове на академичната администрация от различни департаменти, центрове и други академични структури.
Паралелно с конференцията, в периода 15–19 юни 2026, ще се проведе международният хaкатон Hack Smart Sofia, организиран с участието на студенти и преподаватели от университетите–партньори в рамките на Европейския университетски алианс ERUA. Хакатонът се реализира с подкрепата на Столична община, Фонда на фондовете, както и на представители на бизнеса и други организации, ангажирани с развитието на града. В рамките на инициативата участниците ще работят в международни и интердисциплинарни екипи по реални градски предизвикателства, като преподавателите ще се включат в ролята на ментори, фасилитатори и академични експерти. Хакатонът цели да надгради образователното и изследователското измерение на конференцията, като създаде жива връзка между академичното знание, студентското предприемачество и практическите решения за устойчиво градско развитие.

La deuxième édition du Colloque international « Villes en transformation : Défis, (Pré)Visions, Perspectives » est organisée à l’initiative de la communauté de recherche francophone de la Nouvelle Université Bulgare, du Centre des langues et de la diversité culturelle et du Laboratoire des pratiques de développement durable de la NUB, en partenariat avec les départements d’Administration et gestion, d’Architecture, d’Économie, d’Etudes bulgares modernes et de Sciences politiques. Le colloque sera réalisé avec le soutien de l’Alliance universitaire européenne ERUA, l’Agence universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) en Europe centrale et orientale, l’Ambassade de la République française en Bulgarie, l’Ambassade du Royaume du Maroc en Bulgarie, l’Ambassade de la Confédération suisse en Bulgarie, l’Institut français de Sofia, la Chambre de commerce et d’industrie franco-bulgare, l’Institut de recherches économiques de l’Académie bulgare des sciences, l’Union des économistes de Bulgarie et le réseau éducatif international de développement durable et de participation citoyenne Place for Future.
L’événement a pour objectif de créer une tribune académique et citoyenne pour le partage d’observations, d’analyses et d’expériences autour d’un thème d’une importance indiscutable : le présent et l’avenir des villes, des milieux urbains et du vivre ensemble dans la Cité.
Le colloque présentera des recherches théoriques et appliquées de chercheurs bulgares et internationaux, d’experts, d’acteurs de la société civile ainsi que de représentants des administrations publiques et des communautés territoriales et locales. Il vise à systématiser les défis auxquels est confrontée la ville contemporaine et à problématiser les perspectives du développement urbain à travers des discussions, des modèles, des projets, des solutions et de bonnes pratiques.
Le forum scientifique réunira des chercheurs confirmés, jeunes chercheurs, praticiens et experts de plus de 15 pays d’Europe, d’Amérique du Nord, d’Amérique du Sud, d’Afrique et d’Asie, qui débattront, dans un contexte inter et transdisciplinaire, des enjeux, des défis et des perspectives du développement durable des villes contemporaines.
Les langues de travail de la conférence sont le français et l’anglais.
Le comité scientifique de l’événement est composé de chercheurs francophones et anglophones reconnus au niveau international, originaires de Bulgarie et de l’étranger, ainsi que de représentants de l’Alliance universitaire européenne ERUA. Le comité d’organisation associe, aux côtés d’enseignants-chercheurs confirmés, des doctorants et étudiants francophones et anglophones issus de différents programmes de la Nouvelle université bulgare.
L’organisation et la tenue de la conférence mettent en évidence l’importance de l’enseignement et de la recherche en langue française au sein de l’université, ainsi que la pérennité du réseau francophone interdisciplinaire de la NUB, qui rassemble des chercheurs, des enseignants et des membres de l’administration académique issus de différents départements, centres et laboratoires de recherche.
Parallèlement au colloque, du 15 au 19 juin 2026, se tiendra le hackathon international Hack Smart Sofia, organisé avec la participation d’étudiants et d’enseignants issus des universités partenaires de l’Alliance universitaire européenne ERUA. Le hackathon est mis en œuvre avec le soutien de la Municipalité de Sofia, du Fonds des fonds, ainsi que de représentants du monde des affaires et d’autres organisations engagées dans le développement urbain.
Dans le cadre de cette initiative, les participants travailleront en équipes internationales et interdisciplinaires sur des défis urbains réels, les enseignants intervenant en tant que mentors, facilitateurs et experts académiques. Le hackathon vise à renforcer la dimension pédagogique et scientifique du colloque en créant des liens entre savoir académique, entrepreneuriat étudiant et solutions pratiques en faveur du développement urbain durable.

The Second Edition of the International Conference “Changing Cities: Challenges, Predictions, Perspectives” is organised on the initiative of the Francophone research community at New Bulgarian University, the NBU Centre for Multilingualism, and the Laboratory for Sustainable Development Practices at NBU, in partnership with the Departments of Administration and Management, Architecture, Economics, New Bulgarian Studies, and Political Science. The conference is held with the support of the ERUA Alliance, the Agence universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) in Central and Eastern Europe, the Embassy of the Republic of France in Bulgaria, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Bulgaria, the Embassy of Switzerland in Bulgaria, the French Institute in Sofia, the French-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Institute for Economic Research at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the Union of Economists in Bulgaria and the Place for Future International Education Network for Sustainable Development and Civic Participation.
The event aims to create an academic and civic forum for sharing observations, analyses, and experiences on a topic of unquestionable importance—the present and future of cities, urban environments, and life in the City.
The conference will present theoretical and applied research by Bulgarian and international scholars, experts, civic activists, and representatives of public and local authorities. Its objective is to systematise the challenges facing the contemporary city and to critically examine perspectives for urban development through discussions, models, projects, solutions, and best practices.
The scientific forum will bring together established scholars, early-career researchers, practitioners, and experts from more than 15 countries across Europe, North America, South America, Africa, and Asia, who over the course of two days will discuss the issues, challenges, and prospects of sustainable urban development.
The working languages of the Conference are French and English.
The Scientific Committee includes internationally recognised Francophone researchers from Bulgaria and abroad, as well as representatives of the ERUA European University Alliance. The Organising Committee brings together established academics and researchers alongside PhD candidates and students—both Francophone and Anglophone—from various programmes at New Bulgarian University.
The organisation and implementation of the conference highlight the importance of teaching and research conducted in the French language at the university, as well as the sustainability of the interdisciplinary Francophone network at NBU, which brings together researchers, lecturers, and members of the academic administration from different departments, centres, and academic units.
In parallel with the conference, from 15 to 19 June 2026, the international hackathon Hack Smart Sofia will take place, organised with the participation of students and academic staff from partner universities within the European University Alliance ERUA. The hackathon is implemented with the support of the Sofia Municipality, the Fund of Funds, as well as business representatives and other organisations actively engaged in urban development.
As part of the initiative, participants will work in international and interdisciplinary teams on real urban challenges, with academic staff contributing as mentors, facilitators, and academic experts. The hackathon aims to enhance the educational and research dimensions of the conference by creating a dynamic link between academic knowledge, student entrepreneurship, and practical solutions for sustainable urban development.
